Death of a Superhero

A Family's Story about Courage, Bravery and the Defining Moments of LOVE

Our sweet, lil' baby love lost his battle to AML Leukemia on March 8, 2010. We fought long, hard and very aggressively for 2.5 years, only to have his cancer come back for the fourth time to finally take his life. He was only 3 years old.

This entire blog is about Hunter's amazing journey. It's about his life and his love......his determination and his courage.......his absolutely, brilliant personality, and the affect he's had on people all over the world.

He's left an unimaginable footprint on this earth and has changed the lives of thousands of individuals. People who didn't realize how precious life was, now live it with extreme gratefulness. People who took every minute they get to spend with their children for granted, now savor every last second. And people who weren't quite sure what love is all about, now love deeper, love stronger and love with every ounce of their soul.

People all around the world have shared their love, their well wishes, their prayers and their inspiration, and we could have NEVER achieved as much as we did without them. We are humbled by their generosity & their true friendships & are forever grateful for every last person that has come into our lives through our experience with Hunter. He was our precious baby love who we loved and cherished with all our hearts and we are forever crushed and terribly, broken-hearted.

Dance in the clouds baby cakes. Mom & dad are watching proudly & you will remain so very close to our hearts for all of eternity.

East Coast Fundraiser.....finally

So right when Zen and I got back from our night away from the hospital...........things went downhill and I never got a chance to update everyone on the East Coast Fundraiser. Now that things are back in the upswing motion......I can share the evening with you. It was a fantastic night in Atlanta and much love and support and encouragement was flowing throughout the venue. It was hosted by Dantanna's in Buckhead and there were many, many people that came out to admire Hunter's courage and strength and share their hope.

Much thanks to Kristin Hackley, longtime friend and UGA Volleyball teammate. She organized the entire event and rallied up the troops like no other. She's quite a hoot and truly a really wonderful person. She had many helpers who were all by her side making the night a wonderful success. There wasn't a dull moment around!

Some Random Celebs enjoying the Kentucky Derby

UGA Volleyball Celebs from back in the day! These were some of my teammates - Jodi Kruse, Jill Moore, Cindy Young, Me and Kristin Hackley.

Me and one of my closest, most dearest friends, Cindy.........she's really amazing and I love her to DEATH!

Me with Cindy again and Heather Stepp, one of Georgia's finest gymnasts. She was quite the stud there at UGA!

Hack doing her thing! She got all sorts of items donated like a Wii, iPods, the incredible Egg Grill, sporting event tickets, autographed memorabilia, music............

Me with longtime friend Garrison Hearst. He was the "it" factor for UGA Football and played 12 seasons in the NFL, mostly for the San Fran 49'ers and the Denver Broncos.

Me and the UGA Volleyballers again with the current UGA Coach, Joel McCartney.

Me with Damon Evans, another longtime friend who is now the Director of Athletics at UGA. Woo Hoo.........big dawg on campus!

I would also love to thank all of the wonderful sponsors and those that contributed items for the auction and those that donated money. It was such a heartfelt event and we are super appreciative of everyone that came out and showered us with love!

We are getting a very cool autographed guitar from Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons that will still be auctioned off Hunter's site. Stay tuned if you are seriously ready to rock out.
